MRP

Salman Khan latest show "Dus ka Dum" may be the dumbest game show on TV
But the show tells a lot about a common Indian mentality.
Like how many Indians would negotiate for price when they are out on shopping.
The answer was close to 50% if I remember correctly. Still large percentages among us never bother to check the mrp on the label and thus have been a victim of overcharging at some point. Take the daily refreshment, cold drink bottle. Almost all shop owners charge 1-5 Rs extra. This extra is supposed to be electricity charge spent on cooling the bottle.
One fine day at a shop near Marathalli, I was asked to pay Rs 15 for a cold drink bottle. Now 5 rs extra is little too much. Not many people know that they can complain such blatant theft to Consumer Department.

I made an online complaint in a Department of consumer affairs website www.core.nic.in and got a reply within 2 days from Complaints department that the shopkeeper has been warned and has been asked to reply.

Charging more than MRP at any place is a punishable offence if the entity is
not adding any extra service like serving the bottle in a glass.
So next time if someone tries to over charge over mrp you know where the complaint has to be made. People may argue why they should waste time for some bucks.
If you don't do this you are a reason for unnecessary inflation and are motivating the unscrupulous practices of such shops and establishments.
